why does the first game idk about the rest require direct play
Honestly. I have no bloody idea. Just don't install it. Works without it
This game have 9 years now. So, uh... Maybe modern operating systems something messing up. Maybe engine sayed 'I'm too old for that shidd' and start acting up bad idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ since idk what version of engine Mairusu use back in 2015
Update -
windows is detecting that is a directx app and since you don't have that component it tries installing it in fear that it wouldn't work without it
